Day 322 – Arriving in Vigan

When I took the night bus, I bought a ticket all the way to Laoag, forgetting how uncomfortable night buses are. So when the bus drove into Vigan in the morning, I had enough and decided to just get off here.

Vigan was the city I wanted to see anyway but I figured I go to Laoag first to rent a motorbike there and drive back down to Vigan and the rice terraces in Banaue.

I did like Vigan immediately as it was a nice small town with friendly people and a nice old part which is now a UNESCO World Heritage.

Since I didn’t have anything planned or even booked, the first thing was to get coffee and sort a hotel out.

After checking in to my hotel, I started walking around to explore the city but also to find a motorbike to rent.

It turned out that renting a motorbike here was impossible and renting a car so expensive that it was cheaper to just go ahead and buy a motorbike (something I did consider).

Since I didn’t get anywhere with the motorbike rental, I decided to just leave it for and just enjoy the city for today.

Tomorrow was another day to try and find out more.

Day 315 – Last Day in Manila

I guess a bit of sunshine, or just the fact that I got used to the place, can make a difference as Manila didn’t seem quite as run down today.

It was probably also me going to the main touristy and historical part of Intramuros and this is cleaner and less run down than the rest.

Intramuros is well worth a visit and I think I should have done it before to get some balance between roaming around in the rest of the city.

The old buildings and churches are all well maintained and it feels a bit more like an old European town in some ways.

Unfortunately I didn’t have that much time to explore Inmtramuros since I booked a flight later in the day to Cebu so head to get to the airport.

I decided to take public transport and a short walk to get to the airport since it’s cheaper and also more fun than taking a taxi.

While at the airport and on my way there I was trying to decide if I want to get back to Manila and explore more of the city or if I rather avoid it. Even while on the plane I was not decided on this.

Landing in Cebu and spending the evening here was actually very nice and a big change from Manila so I was glad that people and everything here seems nicer.

Day 146 – A Grey Day to Travel

It was another grey and cold morning with rain looming but thankfully it stayed dry.

Due to the grey weather, I did not stop often to take pictures and since I only really wanted to cover between 70-170km today, I did take it easy.

Getting to Quang Tri was petty quick and after visiting the famous church ‘Our Lady of La Vang’ there it was a quick drive to Hue to meet friends there and relax in the evening.

I will stay in Hue for New Years and a few extra days to chill and not be on a bike all day.

A Day in Edinburgh

What do you do if you fancy a whiskey and would like the real deal? Well, you take the evening train from London to Glasgow on a Friday and enjoy a proper whiskey in Scotland and get the ambience to go with it.
While there it is a good idea to stick around an also visit Edinburgh the next day so this is a series from my visit there.
Since this was an impromptu visit, I did not pack properly and only had my usual day to day things with me but the GXR A12-M with Nokon and Heliar 15mm lens was there and my Nexus 7, unfortunately all without a way to charge.

Greenwich Church

The new year started with great weather in London. It’s been a sunny day so I went for a walk around Greenwich. Took some pictures but was not really happy with most. This I like best and cropped to the more pleasant 4:3 format, for portrait pictures I don’t like the 2:3 format at all.
