Broadgate

a7s, f8.0, 1/400, ISO 1000, RAW, 43mm (Pentax Limited f1.9 43mm L)

One last photo with the Sony a7s before giving it back to Tom, it was fun to use it for a few days but it’s a bit too big and heavy for me to take along and the EVF makes it impossible to slide into a jacket pocket even with a small lens. I hope Sony or someone else will put that sensor in a more compact camera.

Daffodils

a7s, f5.6, 1/100, ISO 100, RAW, 50mm (Sony SEL 16-50mm)

Since I still had the Sony a7s and my NEX-3n doesn’t work anymore, I figured I try the 16-50mm kit zoom on the a7s for fun and to see the results it gives. The 16-50mm kit zoom is not a very good lens on the APS sensor of the NEX-3n so it’s pretty useless on the a7s. Still, it was fun using it in a Helga/Loom kind of way.

Kew Gardens

While in Kew attending and photographing a friend’s wedding, I also got to use Tom’s Sony a7s with the Pentax Limited 43mm f1.9 LTM lens on it.

The weather was not great and I didn’t have much time to take photos of the gardens but I did get some photos while wandering around some of the green houses.

The a7s is a very nice camera and it works great with the Pentax lens on it. Walking around Kew gardens was also very nice despite the somewhat grey and cold weather.

Sunny Day in Richmond

After getting back to London yesterday, I went to Richmond to meet Tom and we’ve been out taking some photos in the afternoon once the sun came out.

I started off by using my GR to take photos but used Tom’s Sony a7s with my Jupiter-9 85mm f2.0 lens when we stopped for a pint
.

The Jupiter is a great lens and works very well on the a7s, it is very sharp even wide open and has a nice bokeh.

Focusing on the a7s is certainly more of a pain than using the GXR because you have to magnify the screen in order to get accurate focus with Sony’s peaking but zooming in takes two button presses which is annoying. The fact that you can’t change the minimum shutter speed from 1/60 is another thing that Sony needs to fix. As good as the a7s is, small things like these show that Sony is not giving their cameras to realm photographers for feedback before they release them and don’t listen enough to feedback afterwards.

Still, it is a great camera and it was fun shooting with the Jupiter-9 lens, a great combination if you need a inexpensive portrait lens for the Sony a7 cameras.
